Boris Divider at Life Festival 2010

Boris Divider

Electro producer Boris Divider develops a dark-minimal Electro style as a consequence of the man-machine atmosphere, the vision of an automated society and a world controlled by machines.
Born in Madrid, his influences come on the one hand from the first ebm waves and the dark electronic scene and on the other hand from the old school electro and hiphop movement that appeared on the streets of his city in the early nineties, of course influences from the Electro founders Kraftwerk, or refreshing Anthony Rother’s earlier work as well as concrete sci-fi films and books like “Blade Runner” or “Ghost in the Shell” helped him to reflect his vision. It was in 1992 when he started to make music with computers, sequencers and synths creating a several electronic projects. But finally Electro catched his attention at the end of nineties.
In late 2001 he joined the hi-top Anthony Rother’s label, officially presented as a PSI49NET artist in early 2002 through the “Electro Commando 1 Welcome To PsiCity” compilation.

2003 was the year when he brought to the light his main project called DRIVECOM to give Electro the impulse it deserves and keep the essence of the dark and minimal taste that aimed him to start. The label was getting a very good response around the electro community and it became as one of the most important reference of Electro and maybe the most representative electro label from Spain, now its discography includes classic tracks like “People Love Machines”, “Shut Down The System”, or the amazing “La Hora De Las Maquinas” album.
B. Divider’s works appeared not only on his label. You’ll find more tracks on Satamile Monotone USA, MSX… imprints with an always anticipated vibe and they have got an international respect over the years. They have been charted and supported by the most important electro djs around the world: Dave Clarke, The Advent, Exzakt, Umwelt… From the classic tunes like “Take My Beat” (2003) or “Mundo Conectado” (2006) to the last releases such as “Remote Operator”, “LHDM Remixes” and recently the “Electronics EP” stuff.
As a musician, one of the strongest points is actually his powerfull hardware live act, no laptop involved, just man and machines experience. Performing sequencer, synths, keyboards and vocals/vocoders in realtime, making each show different since each track is developed on the air for the audience. Also this is combined with amazing visuals made from himself and after almost ten years performing he has received a good response and high rating from the crowd in countries such as Germany, USA, Uk, Holland, Finland, Croatia, Slovenia, Ireland, Malta, Spain… and playing in the most important events and clubs, Sonar Festival, Amsterdam Dance Event, Aquasella Festival…
